Sansón is a mysterious Bloodfiend who claims to be a guide and greeter of La Manchaland and seeks to make Don Quixote recall her past adventures. He is a major antagonist in Canto VII: The Dream Ending.

Appearance

Sansón is a tall and slender man with long legs. Since he rarely shows his skin, Sansón is quite pale. He adorns his face with a triangular white and blue metal mask with jagged edges and a sharp beak. His right eye glows red from behind the mask. Atop his head sits a tall blue top hat. He wears a blue vest with a white jabot, all covered by a long blue overcoat. His hands are covered by deep blue gloves, and with dark blue trousers and black shoes on, he carries a long black pole with three blue stripes.

Trivia

• Sansón is based on Sansón Carrasco (often rendered Samson Carrasco in English translations) from Miguel de Cervantes's novel The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha.
  • The literary Sansón Carrasco is a character introduced in the second book of Don Quixote. He is a Bachelor of Salamanca and a friend of Don Quixote's, jousting with him under the alias of "The Knight of the Mirrors" and "The Knight of the White Moon" in order to defeat him and order him back to his village.
