–Lion, Prologue: Selva Oscura |
Lion (Hangul: 사자, Sa-ja) is a member of a mysterious group along with Wolf and Panther that, amongst other things, aims to hunt down and kill Dante. The trio appear to have knowledge of Dante's identity and purpose prior to the replacement of their head. She is an antagonist introduced in Prologue: Selva Oscura.
Appearance
Lion is a tall woman with parted, spiky, blonde hair. She has a large scar on the left side of her chin. Under a long fur-lined coat, notably more ragged than her partner's coats, she wears a black turtleneck with two large purple belts made of snakeskin crossing over one another, golden buckles on each. She wears silver armor on her limbs, her gauntlets having long claws which she uses in combat.
Personality
Lion is a confident, strong, person who has a tendency to become too emotional on jobs. She is excited to hunt people of a high caliber and wants to enjoy the thrill of killing such rare targets as much as possible.
Story
Lion, Wolf, and Panther are met just as they corner Dante in a dark forest as a part of a plan made by their master. They decided to kill them once they realize that, thanks to Dante's new head, they will be unable to get any information out of them. Lion wanted to draw it out, but the other two believed it is best to kill them now. Just as Wolf was about to kill Dante, they heard a noise, realizing that a bus was heading towards them. Lion boasted that whoever is in that bus will pay a price for turning down the wrong road just before Mephistopheles hit her head-on. The Sinners exited the bus and engage the three in a fight, but Lion and her companions made short work of them and are only stopped when Vergilius dismembers Lion, taking an arm, and Wolf, removing her leg, before ordering Panther to drag them away in a retreat.

Trivia
- Panther, Lion and Wolf are based on the three beasts from the first Canto of Dante's Inferno, which symbolize the three major divisions of the sins punished in hell. The lion, the second beast encountered by Dante, represents violence, and is connected to the sins of pride and wrath.
- Though their master is currently unknown, Vergilius referring to them as "the Serpent", as well as the presence of purple snake ornaments on all three group members, it is possible the identity of the master is none other than Iori, the Purple Tear.
