Jia Huan
Jia Huan (Hangul: 가환, Ga Hwan) is Hong Lu's older brother and an overarching antagonist introduced in Canto I: The Outcast.
Acting as a specialized N Corp. frontline fighter on Hermann's team, he is currently in opposition with Limbus Company to retrieve the Golden Boughs within the ruined Lobotomy Corporation facilities.
Appearance
Jia Huan is a tall, pale man with long dark hair, tied up in a ponytail with a red hairband. His hair is parted sharply in the middle, showing off his forehead and arching down past the ears on his sides. Jia Huan has bright red eyes.
He drapes a dark navy-blue uniform with red-accented lines and flowers over a black, high-collared coat. His coat reaches a bit past his waist while the uniform drapes down to his knees. His sleeves are thick and puffy, ending at his elbows to reveal tight black wrist armor and gloves. His ID tag hangs off the upper half of his left sleeve. He wears black pants and shoes. Both his shoes and coat are fitted with silver adornments, his coat having three, and his pants having two.
He carries around a long, dark purple sword in his left hand. The cross guard is decorated with small flowers similar to the ones on his uniform, and from the end of the hilt hangs a red rope ending in a tassel.
Personality
Little is known about Jia Huan at the moment. However, he is shown to flaunt a blunt, arrogant personality, as well as having an embittered rivalry with Hong Lu.
Story
After the Sinners strike down the False Apple, Jia Huan, Hermann, and Gubo appear in order to steal the Golden Bough sprouting from what remains of the late Yuri. When Hong Lu greets him, Jia Huan responds by remarking on how filthy his clothing smells, bringing up how their family might react to his sorry state and looking down on him. After the two groups exhange brief barbs with one another, Jia Huan ends the reunion by clapping twice and causing the Sinners to black out.
Trivia
- Jia Huan is based off of the eponymous character from Cao Xueqin's novel Dream of the Red Chamber.
- Although Hong Lu only addresses Jia Huan as "Brother" in the English translation, in both the original Korean text and Japanese translation, he uses a term indicating that Jia Huan is specifically his older brother: in Korean he says "형" (hyung/hyeong), while in Japanese he says "兄さん" (Nii-san).
