Walpurgis Night
Walpurgis Night, also known as Walpurgisnacht, is a recurring event that takes places around every three months. Exclusive Identities, E.G.O, and Announcers are introduced during this time period through Extraction, while past Walpurgis Night content is once again made available through both Extraction and the Dispenser.
Walpurgis Nights are defined by their somewhat limited content, spaced releases, and cross-overs between Limbus Company and the developer's preceding works.
Five different Walpurgis Nights have occurred so far.
Overview
The content from Walpurgis Night focuses on characters, enemies and stories from Project Moon's previous works. This reportedly includes:
As a gameplay mechanic, Walpurgis Night Events take place around every three months and last for two weeks. Each Walpurgis Night introduces two new Battle Announcers, alongside either one E.G.O and two Identities, or two E.G.O and one Identity. One of the Announcers takes the form of a Lobotomy Corporation main character, which release in their assigned "order", pertaining to the order of which their Floors are unlocked in Library of Ruina. Additionally, Walpurgis Night events have consistently alternated between a Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina theming, which plays a large role in shaping the featured Identities and Backdoor volatility. Lobotomy Corporation Walpurgis Nights include Lobotomy E.G.O Identities, while Library of Ruina themed Walpurgis Nights feature Identities mirroring specific guests of the Library. All E.G.O borrow their designs from Angela and Roland's transformations during their respective Floor Realizations, regardless of which game the event takes after.
In-universe
Walpurgis Nights also occur in-universe, although at their own, unpredictable rate, such that Dante and the Sinners may even experience several within days of each other.[1] During these time periods, the Extraction range of Mephistopheles' engine is said to grow up to around ten years or beyond.[2] This enables Dante to extract Identities from traditionally inaccessible Mirror Worlds, mainly that of the Lobotomy Corporation Headquarters and the former Library guests. Similarly, E.G.O pertaining to the original L Corp. headquarters' Abnormalities and Announcers with ties to the Mirror Worlds may be obtained.
For the LCB, Walpurgis Night is accompanied by a Backdoor volatility. These are unique scenarios taking place within the past, which the Sinners must then traverse and "complete" in order to make a return to the bus.[3] Thus far, the scenarios have related to the L Corp. headquarters, the Abnormalities sealed within the books of the Library, and the adventures of the Library's guests. The Backdoor's scenario will repeat itself until the Sinners achieve a particular objective,[3] which tends to involve defeating a notable enemy. Within these scenarios, the Sinners fit smoothly into the world, and may interact with it without fear of causing alarm or rewriting history.[4]
Stages
Each Walpurgis Night is accompanied by a new Mini Episode, and (beginning with the 2nd Walpurgis Night) a new stage alongside a relevant event. These stages often feature fights against Ordeals from Lobotomy Corporation, or Abnormality suppressions with mechanics similar to their corresponding Library of Ruina fight. However, certain Walpurgis Nights feature greater spins on the formula, such as the 5th Walpurgis Night's battle against the Church of Gears.
Each stage has an "Easy/Normal" difficulty and a "Hard" difficulty. Both cost one Enkephalin Module to enter during the event period. The event provides several challenges or Missions that can be completed in order to earn various rewards like resources, unique banners, and business card decorations. Both difficulties have their own set of Missions and rewards that must be completed in the corresponding difficulty.
Once the event period ends, Missions can no longer be completed and the same rewards cannot be earned during subsequent Walpurgis Nights. Despite this, stages can be still be played once the event closes and outside of Walpurgis Night periods, at no cost. However, in some cases, the "Hard" difficulty may become inaccessible (as was the case with the 2nd and 3rd Walpurgis Night).
As with stages, the story cutscenes are also left accessible can be viewed from the Theater at any time.

Extraction & Dispenser
Identities, E.G.O, and Announcers released as part of Walpurgis Night are only obtainable during the event period. Once the event ends, they will become unobtainable through all means until the next Walpurgis Night occurs.
During Walpurgis Night, Identities and E.G.O exclusive to the event become available through all Extractions (including Faction and Sinner Target Extractions). Walpurgis-exclusive Announcers, on the other hand, are only extractable from the particular Walpurgis Target Extraction made available during the event period. This Target Extraction also provides increased extraction rates for new content introduced in that particular Walpurgis Night.
New Identities and E.G.O introduced in a given Walpurgis Night can only be obtained via Extraction and cannot be purchased from the Dispenser until subsequent Walpurgis Nights.
Exclusive Identities
Walpurgisnacht Identities are based on Agents from the L Corp. Headquarters wielding Lobotomy E.G.O, and former guests of the Library.

Trivia
- The name Walpurgis Night references a holiday celebrated starting on the 30th of April through the first of May, commemorating Saint Walpurga.
- The 3rd Walpurgis Night's date was chosen specifically in order to occur around this time.
- Walpurgisnacht was likely integrated into Limbus Company particularly for its role in Goethe's Faust, as both Faust, Part One and Faust, Part Two feature scenes named after and involving Walpurgisnacht. During the former scene, Faust and Mephistopheles encounter a traditional Walpurgis Night gathering of witches, which celebrate with the devil atop the Brocken mountain at this time of year according to German folklore.
