Demian's Group

–Rim, Canto V: The Evil Defining |
Demian's group is a currently undefined and unofficially named faction of six people, including Demian. They contrast the openly-hostile Hermann's group as a crowd suspected by the Sinners to be passively observing them from nearby. With a strange connection to stars and the Sign, next to nothing is known about the group at present.
Goals
Unlike Hermann's faction and the Yurodiviye, the overarching goal of Demian and his comrades currently goes unstated. In describing their actions, only convoluted phrases are used. However, there are several points in which they mention the concept of waiting or a future occurrence, and stars.
They claim not to seek the Golden Boughs—rather, the group does not care who ends up with them. Rim tells the Sinners that "It matters not who lays claim upon the Golden Bough, or to what end they use it. It is no more than a mere fluttering of wings. We simply seek to steer the echoes of that fluttering toward a better direction."[1] Demian, too, shows no interest in the Golden Bough Kromer possessed and states that he only took her down out of personal motives concerning Sinclair. The Golden Bough of La Manchaland was even planted by Sansón's own doing, which he tells the original Don Quixote will eventually be claimed by the LCB's Don Quixote.
Instead, Demian's group primarily demonstrates interest in observing "all", including the Sinners. Their personal goals appear to differ slightly: Sansón expressing a desire to "spark the flame again and again", and Demian hoping to see Dante "draw him a sheep". As a whole, the group holds expectations of sorts for the LCB.
The Sign
The Sign is a mysterious symbol possessed by at least some of the members of Demian's group. While Sansón refers to it directly,[2] he is not shown to have one. Demian and his followers act as major examples of those possessing it, although it is not exclusive to them, but also seen on other characters including Sonya and Sinclair.
The Sign is implied to grant possessors grand, unexplainable abilities, and to be valued by the group. For Demian, realizing Sinclair also possessed the Sign appeared to have been enough to motivate him to approach and befriend him.
Relations with Other Factions
Yurodiviye
The Yurodiviye and Demian's faction appear to be allies. Sonya and Demian are at least acquainted with one another, well enough that Sonya knows of his relationship with Sinclair.[3] Additionally, at the end of Canto III: The Unconfronting, Demian tells Sinclair that "the world is about to head for a new birth. And, only a few individuals can get there", a statement which aligns closely with Yurodiviye's goals of building a new and better world.
Limbus Company
The members of Demian's group express a desire to watch over the LCB on their quest for the Golden Boughs.[4] Individual members are implied to have slightly differing attitudes towards observing the Sinners, as Rim shows a simple general interest in the employees while Demian expresses a specific interest in Sinclair's growth and Dante's "sheep", and Sansón a concern with Don Quixote's adventures and memories. The details of their plans regarding the Sinners are not specific, but not yet openly hostile or violent. Rather, they appear to value the Sinners considerably more than the average person. They show no concern for the lives of other involved parties, demonstrated in both Kromer's assassination and the attempt on Jia Xichun's life. Sinclair believes they could easily hurt them if they had the desire to, but choose not to.
The members of Limbus Company themselves have mixed views on Demian's group and whether they are friend or foe. Sinclair states that he doesn't think Demian holds any animosity against them, however, several of the other Sinners are considerably more wary of him and his allies. In response to Sinclair's words, Ryōshū suggests, "Not against you, maybe", while Outis states she has doubts about Rim's intentions. Sansón additionally forms an ill impression among the Sinners through his forced stage plays.
