Smee is the first mate of the Twinhook Pirates, a U Corp. Syndicate of extortionists and killers allied under the Middle. She is a minor antagonist in Canto V: The Evil Defining.

Appearance

Smee wears a uniform styled in typical fashion of the Twinhook Pirates, one with a large-brimmed hat with a golden trim along its brim. She has long, white hair affixed out of her face via a middle part. She has half-lidded eyes with violet pupils and wears red lipstick. Around her waist, she has a large belt that holds a hook-hand that she wears over one of her hands whilst in combat. In her left hand, she wields a wide-barreled pistol with ornate gold patterning.

Personality

Smee is a cocky pirate emboldened by her seemingly infinite power and control over the U Corp. Backstreets, though this is quickly refuted after combat with her. Despite her cool-headed and arrogant attitude, once she is defeated she begins to panic, using her status as a protected client of the Middle as leverage for why the Sinners should not kill her. She is quite bored of her position due to the prolonged distance of her crew's Captain.

Story

While trying to track down the lost LCCB members who had been taken hostage by the Twinhook Pirates, the Sinners found their way to the Marlin Port Club in search of the Syndicate leader. While the Captain was not actually there, Smee - the first mate - is, and she explained that she not only runs the club but also was the one who came up with the idea of expanding the Syndicate's business ventures into extorting money from people by taking 'guests' hostage. Smee agreed to give the LCB the information on where the missing LCCB Team Leader is being held in exchange for Ishmael telling her all the information she knows about Queequeg. Ishmael was unable to tell Smee anything, so fighting ensues.

After the battle, Smee was left heavily injured, informing the Sinners that the Middle has her under their protection. Due to this, and the fact they know Queequeg, who Smee reveals had quit the Middle some years ago, the Middle will hunt them down if they harm Smee any further. Ishmael was unbothered by this threat, instead choosing to continue with her plan to kill her. Smee finally admitted the location of the LCCB member but Ishmael's decision does not change. Dante attempted to talk Ishmael down, but she disregarded their words entirely and strikes at Smee. Luckily for Smee, Dante stepped in to take the hit and, after a brief argument amongst the LCB, they decided to spare Smee's life and leave the club to continue their mission.

Trivia

• Smee is based off of the character of the same name from the 1904 play Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up and 1911 novel Peter and Wendy, both penned by J. M. Barrie.
  • In the novel Mr. Smee is not the first mate, instead being the boatswain of the Jolly Roger. The Disney adaptation of Peter Pan helped popularize the change of his role in the crew.
