Samjo
“ | That's why I kept telling you, Mr. Dongrang. When you draft a contract, you have to be meticulous and calculating, and write it in a way that favors us. | ” |
–Samjo, Canto IV: The Unchanging |
Samjo (Hangul: 삼조, Samjo) is an employee of K Corp., working in their Food Resource Development department, and Dongrang's personal secretary.
He is a supporting character introduced in Intervallo I: Hell's Chicken, where he tasks the Sinners to investigate the Distortion Papa Bongy who is wreaking havoc in the Nest of K Corp, meeting with the Sinners once more in Canto IV: The Unchanging after they arrive at K Corp's laboratory.
Appearance
Samjo is a man of average height and build with a pale, near gray complexion. His eyes are dark turquoise in color and small and slanted in shape, with eyebrows that start out thicker in the middle and taper going outward. He possesses pointy, dark teal hair which clumps together into outstretched barbs, and opts to leave his rectangular glasses resting atop his uneven bangs.
He wears a regular black suit and tie, dress shoes, and thin belt with a metal buckle. He leaves his suit jacket unbuttoned, revealing his collared shirt and green tie. Samjo's K Corp. ID hangs from his suit's left breast. He carries around a lollipop with a white stick in his mouth and a gray iPad-like device in his right hand.
When preparing to dive, Samjo removes his suit jacket and glasses, and sets down his device and lollipop.
Personality
Samjo is a dry, straightforward businessman with no qualms about lying in order to proceed with his current job. He tends to be apathetic and matter-of-fact, with Intervallo I featuring him landing the Sinners in hot water with a lot of work to do whilst he himself stands passively on the sidelines. He comes off as audacious and laid back, casually provoking the Bongy-possessed K Corp. guards while hiding behind Dante and forcing Limbus Company to take care of it. He later proceeds to nonchalantly hand over his business card whilst ignoring the group's glaring eyes.
At the end of the event, he shows little remorse for the Bodhisattva's Chicken Manager when Eunbong’s Bar & Fryers is set to begin selling again and threaten to run Bodhisattva's out of business. Samjo continually maintains this kind of industry-first mindset which often comes before concern for others. Though he will engage in other things, his conversations tend to circle back around to business, such as an exchange with Shrenne in 4-10 where his words quickly jump from pitying to finance-based. His placid personality works to create a contrast with the more bubbly Dongrang's.
Despite Samjo's stoic attitude, he feels strongly about his job, and possesses a resolute loyalty towards his boss Dongrang and K Corp.'s Singularity. He states that he applied for K Corp. immediately after reaching adulthood due to one of their ampules mending his broken neck following a diving incident, an event which he took to heart and allowed to shape his current attitude towards the company. Samjo holds a deep, blind trust in K Corp.'s achievements, to the point of jumping straight into the vat of tears, and never questioning the multitude of suspicious happenings around him.

Trivia
- Samjo is based off of the character of the same name from Yoo Chijin's play, The Shack or The Mud Hut (Hangul: 토막, Tomak), a Korean man that traveled to Japan for employment when Korea suffered under Japanese imperialism.
- This would make Samjo the second character in Limbus Company to be based on a fictional character from a Guinhoe-related piece of media, rather than take a pen name belonging to one of the writers in that same group. (The first being Jumsoon.)
- The Samjo in Limbus Company is likely a combination of the characters Myeong-Soo and Samjo from The Mud Hut due to Myeong-Soo's fate in the play.
- Samjo's character sprites are set up improperly: his base sprite possesses the lollipop he carries around in his mouth in one place while certain face sprites feature the lollipop in a different position, resulting in several of his sprites showing him carrying two lollipop sticks at once.
