Jumsoon
Jumsoon (Hangul: 점순이, Jeom-suni), is a former Maestro of the Ring. Jumsoon and N Corp. scientist Aseah were responsible for kidnapping the children from Vergilius’ orphanage and subjecting Lapis and Garnet to the glass window’s refraction experiments. He debuts in Book2 of Leviathan as a major antagonist.
Appearance
Jumsoon is an androgynous man with extensive red spot tattoos that spread from his torso to his neck and face. He has wavy, chin length black hair streaked with white and red, and is seen wearing the Ring’s signature white dress suit, as well as a fascinator with a veil that covers his eyes. He wears a three-coiled ring on his left hand’s ring finger, signifying his rank as a Maestro. In combat, Jumsoon wields a red nangseon (otherwise known as a Lang xian), a multi-tipped spear with blades attached to its branches.
As a Distortion, Jumsoon transforms into a grotesque, pale, lizard-like humanoid with a reptilian tail, claws, and feet, with blue dots all over his body. He retains his human head, although his dark hair is instead streaked blue, and his eyes glow with a faint indigo shine.
Personality
Customary of members of the Ring, Jumsoon is a man obsessed with the macabre viewed through a lens of art. He is a quiet and morose person in most cases, though shows a more elated side when offered with the opportunity to correspond with Vergilius. He considers rules and regulation secondary to the pursuit of art, willing to do away with them for further experience.
In his time as a Distortion, he becomes obsessed with all moments of possible time, viewing them as 'dots' representative of his Pointillist views. Given access to visions of thousands of possibilities, he is powered by this mentality enough to battle equally against Vergilius.
Story
Leviathan
Accompanied by Ring Docents, Jumsoon is first noticed at a distance by Garnet as the man attempted to locate the missing Lapis. Correctly identifying the group as members of a Syndicate, Vergilius chose to accompany the man as the two encountered Pablo. Soon after this meeting, the duo returned to Vergilius's Office, where they were sent a videotape showing the inside of the Ring's laboratory. Noticing Jumsoon speaking in the tape, Garnet connects the dots and confirms the importance of the gallery to the location of Lapis.
On the day of his auction, Jumsoon overlooked the bidders coming to view the Ring's wares, making specific note of Gubo's presence, though caring little for the remaining of people. Malaising on the buyers, he looked from his balcony only to spot an approaching Vergilius, before returning to the incomplete painting inspired by the Fixer's massacre of a now-forgotten Syndicate.
At the moment of the auction's beginning, Jumsoon is assisted by several Ring members and Pablo. Hosting the event, Jumsoon introduces several items, though neither Vergilius nor Gubo are interested in the items. Finally reaching his beloved painting, the two bidders battle over it, though Jumsoon disregards the formal rules of auctions and allows Vergilius to win the bid, provided that the man assists him in finishing the abstract painting. Sending the Color Fixer to a VIP room, Jumsoon prepares to meet with him, though the Fixer snuck into the Corridor whilst the two were separated.
Inside the Corridor, as a terrified Garnet meets with Rikako and Nanseul, Jumsoon reappears, now armed for combat. Ordering the latter of the Officemates suddenly, Nanseul turns on the group, killing Rikako with a stab to her back. The Pointillist reveals his vested interest in Garnet as somebody who brings about a miracle; the distant trauma of Tomerry's rampage on the orphanage being the birth of his new obsession, the emergence of the Mirror Worlds as a known concept. Finally finished with his explanation, he orders Nanseul to pull a lever which begins to forcibly imprint Identities onto Garnet at its maximum refraction output. Amazed by the results as Garnet begins to harness the variety of powers given through the Identities, Garnet threatens the Maestro despite the man's admiration for Garnet's abilities. While the two stare at one another, Aseah approached with curiosity. Suddenly, Garnet leaps into action, beginning his violent assault on the glass protecting Jumsoon, only to break it and attack him directly. With light actions, Jumsoon fought back, though lost his left arm as Garnet utilizes battle tactics customary of the Shi Association. Even still, he refused to answer Garnet's plea of how to save Lapis and the others being experimented on. Though the new Fixer finally gains the strength to kill Jumsoon, he is brought down by the feelings of a specific Identity, giving Jumsoon a moment to strike back, as he severed Garnet's legs in this crucial moment, causing Garnet to spiral into despair as Peccatulum break from their cocoons, while Garnet begins to transform into a small, crystal, gemstone.
When Vergilius finally found the location where Jumsoon and Garnet battled, he stumbled upon the wounded Maestro, who began explaining the state of the Peccatulum that he battled. While Vergilius ignored his words, he began attacking the Ring member with the plan to kill him, though this is thwarted as Jumsoon commands Aseah to use the refraction technology on him. When under the light, he is sent into an ecstasy, with his body turning temporarily into a husk before releasing the Maestro in a new form, idealized as a Distortion. Now granted the ability to estimate Vergilius's actions through peering into Mirror Worlds, Jumsoon entered vicious combat with the man, all the while assaulting him with dots as a weapon, holding visions of distant worlds that attack Vergilius mentally as well. Pushed to the brink of defeat, Vergilius manifested his E.G.O through the event of reflection, before denying the voice of the Distortion, immediately utilizing this strength to equally battle Jumsoon. Against Jumsoon's dots, Vergilius utilizes a 'line', connecting a massive breadth of the overlaid dots with a severing, red, line which pierced the Maestro directly through his shoulder. With his beauty fading, Jumsoon began to face his true defeat, coming to a complete standstill as his logic is similarly destroyed. Though suddenly, embodying the endless attempt to vie for others' gaze, the Abnormality Schadenfreude tore itself from his body, tearing him open as it is manifested.
While Vergilius battles the Abnormality, Aseah departed alongside Gubo, no longer interested in the happenings without his role beneath Jumsoon. While the Maestro's death was ensured, he succeeded in his experiments, successfully harnessing powers as Lapis was no longer herself, now overwritten by another Identity.
Canto VI: The Heartbreaking
Despite his death, Jumsoon's will continued on as Aseah, allied with former members of the Ring's Pointillist branch such as the Öufi Assoc. Director, continued experiments in harnessing the abilities of the Mirror Worlds within the basement of Wuthering Heights, employing similar strategies to Jumsoon's experiments.

Trivia
- Jumsoon (점순이, Jeom-suni) is a traditionally feminine name made by combining ‘점’ (dot) with the suffix -suni (-순이), which is typically reserved for females. “Jumsoon” can be considered an English equivalent to the name “Dotty”.
- Because of this, as well as his androgynous appearance, Garnet incorrectly assumes Jumsoon to be a woman, and refers to him with the female pronoun “geunyeo” (그녀).
- Jumsoon is named after one of the protagonists of the short story The Camellias (동백꽃, dongbaekkkot) by Gim Yujeong (Korean: 김유정, Hanja: 金裕貞).
- In The Camellias, Jumsoon is the daughter of the mareum (마름, supervisor of a tenant farm) of the land the nameless narrator's peasant family lives and works on.
- Jumsoon's depiction as an obsessive, violent artist is probably a reference to The Camellias writer Gim Yujeong's own history, as the author had notoriously stalked pansori singer Park Rok-joo, going as far as sending her threatening letters written with blood.
- Jumsoon is the first Project Moon character to be based on a fictional character from a Guinhoe-related piece of media.
- Jumsoon shares his literary inspiration, The Camellias, with Dongbaek.
- Jumsoon was a fan of the Musicians of Bremen, a Syndicate that appears in Library of Ruina. His appreciation of them inspired his animal-headed human-statues gallery in District 22.
