Pop
Pop is a Docent of the Ring and an antagonist introduced in Leviathan Book8.
Appearance
Pop is a short man with wide eyes, his face frame by a bob with a blunt trim, his bangs pushed to the side. Beneath his left eye is a tear shaped ornament. He wears wide multi-segmented hoop earrings. He wears a pale turtleneck beneath a low-buttoned suit jacket, overtop which is a chained necklace with the text "PEACE!" at its center. Beneath this, he wears suit pants and shoes with tall heels. On his hands are white gloves, overtop which he wears several various rings, emblematic of his Syndicate.
Personality
Pop is an eccentric man obsessed with the idea of 'ecstasies' in the form of refracting kaleidoscopic pods. He is always seen with a smile on his face, even while crying and with a bloodied nose. Despite his generally disarming nature, he is intimidating enough to push Denver to trying the product she came to use as bait for him, as well as showing an obsessive side as he embraces her close enough for both of their eyes to touch.
Story
Pop is first seen alongside his fellow Syndicate members, recorded by Lapis as she is escorted through the N Corp. lab that The Ring was operating.
Later, he is giving a lecture to several people in one of The Ring's galleries, only to cut it short as he begins to cry profusely. Pretending to be overwhelmed by the emotion of the pieces, he was crying due to frequent use of a product that allows for one to see themselves across several Mirror Worlds. As he sits at a viewing area, he is approached by Denver carrying several of the pods used for his addiction, where she lightly mocks him for his use of the tools, making it known that 'upper brass' should remain in the dark on the product. Moving to a closed room, the two would begin sampling the product, where Pop would convince Denver to try the experience alongside him. Backed into a corner, she would succumb to the pressure and try it, sending her into a temporary ecstatic shock, which Pop would gain an affinity for as he presses his tearful eye to hers.
Denver is given the password to The Ring's Corridor through this exchange, though neither she nor Pop reappear after this point.
