The Mirror of the Lake was the Mirror Dungeon of Season 3. It was unlocked by completing Canto II, but the encounters within could change depending on how far one had progressed through the main story.

It was replaced by the Mirror of the Wuthering as part of the May 2nd, 2024 update. However, all Abnormalities, enemies and E.G.O Gifts that were previously present in this dungeon, can still be encountered in future Mirror Dungeons.

Rewards

Normal

Normal Mode of this Mirror Dungeon had a 3-day max weekly rewards system in place, where the first three reward claims after a dungeon runs in a week (regardless of completion level) would reward the player with extra resources, namely:

Once the Weekly Rewards bonus had been used up, the player would only receive 30 Limbus Pass XP and 100 Manager EXP for any subsequent Mirror Dungeon runs.

Hard

Hard Mode of this Mirror Dungeon was nearly identical to Mirror of Mirrors Hard, in that beating it consumed all three weekly bonuses along with a once-per-week bonus exclusively for the Hard difficulty. With all three Weekly Reward Bonuses and the Hard Bonus in place, beating it rewarded the player with:

Secondary Starter Buffs

Secondary Starter Buffs may be activated after their parent buff had been activated. They may be deactivated independently of their parent buff, but deactivating the parent buff would always deactivate the secondary buff also.

Wish of Stars

After all the primary Starter Buffs had been unlocked, a prompt would appear before each Mirror Dungeon run allowing the players to activate one-time-only buffs using Starlight. There are three such buffs that could be chosen from:

Mounting Trials

After each floor's Floor Boss encounter, players may choose a buff to be granted to enemies in future floors along with the usual post-boss E.G.O Gifts. Refusing the Gift would prompt the game to choose a random buff instead.

Hard Difficulty

MD3 Hard used a completely different pool of Mounting Trials after each Floor Boss. Additionally, a Level Boost of +1 to +4 Levels to the enemies were offered alongside the Mounting Trials (the exact number of Levels boosted depends on offered Gift Tier and Floor). A Level Boost of +4 Levels always came with an additional E.G.O Gift choice.

Encounter Details

Combat Encounters

The enemies that could be encountered in this dungeon continued to expand floor by floor until floor 3. The specific enemies fought however were limited to how far the player had progressed in the story. (Example: A player who has not finished Canto V will be unable to encounter Twinhook Pirates)

  • Floor 1 contains enemies from Canto 1 to Intervallo 1
  • Floor 2 contains enemies from Canto 1 to Intervallo 2
  • Floor 3 contains enemies from Canto 1 to Canto 5
  • Floor 4 contains the same enemies as Floor 3

Hard Mode added an additional 5th floor. This contained the same enemies as Floors 3 and 4, except all encounters were now 2-wave encounters.

The Mirror of the Lake added a total of 13 new Abnormality events encounterable on event nodes.

The events for Broken Wings, Cyclops, Resident of Metropolaris, Steam Transport Machine, Shock Centipede, and Faelantern could only be encountered after the [New Discovery] Starter Buff had been unlocked.

Bosses

Much like the combat encounters, certain bosses required the player to complete a certain chapter before unlocking the boss. This includes all floor 1 bosses, the Corroded Inquisitors on floor 2, the Intervallo bosses on floor 3, and Kromer on floor 4.

Hard Mode added a 5th floor, but otherwise shared the same encounter pool for the first 4 floors.
