This Identity has the following unique Sanity mechanics:

  • Increases after winning a Clash based on the Clash count
    (Base Value is 15, raised by 20% per Clash Count after 1)
  • Increases by 15 after this unit defeats an enemy regardless of their level
  • Increase by 10 after an ally defeats an enemy whose level was higher than this unit's
  • If the level of the defeated ally was higher than this unit's, decrease based on the level difference
    (Base Value is 15, raised by 15 per level)
    • These Sanity Factors ultimately result in a greater degree of fluctuation in SP in this Identity than in most other Identities.

Trivia

  • This Identity mirrors Philip from Library of Ruina.
    • The other members of Dawn Office, Salvador and Yuna, can be seen in the Identity's acquisition cutscene, though it is unknown if they are other Sinners' Identities.
  • The secondary activation condition for his Volatile E.G.O state being the death of 2+ allies without entering Panic/Corrosion mirrors how the original Philip was put on the path of manifesting E.G.O following the deaths of Salvador and Yuna.
  • This Identity Story confirms that Carmen is the narrator of the Identity Stories (where the story is not narrated by the Sinners themselves), as Sinclair directly refers to her by name.
  • In this Identity's Chatter #1 voiceline, Sinclair mentions how he enjoys the sound of cello and would like to try learning it one day. This is a reference to Philip's role as a member of the Reverberation Ensemble, where he was known as the "Cello".
    • The Chatter #3 voiceline mentions ssanghwa-cha. Ssanghwa-cha is a traditional Korean tea, which Philip was fond of and particularly good at brewing.
  • The name of this Identity's Volatile E.G.O, Waxen Pinion, and the Identity Story both refers to the Greek mythological story of Icarus.
    • In the myth, Icarus and his master craftsman father Daedalus was imprisoned by King Minos. Daedalus prepares for their escape by creating wings made out of feathers, cloth, and beeswax. During their escape, Icarus flies too high, causing the beeswax to melt and the wings to fall apart, and he falls from the sky and drowns in the sea below.
  • In game files, this Identity's Skill Icons are different between normal and Volatile E.G.O states. However, this is not reflected in actual gameplay.
  • This Identity has undergone multiple rounds of change and adjustment in the week directly after its release, primarily relating to the excessive SP costs of the Volatile E.G.O::Waxen Pinion state at initial release.
