Funeral of the Dead Butterflies (T-01-68) is a non-fightable HE-class Abnormality, that was originally contained at L Corp. Headquarters.

It can be encountered in the Mirror Dungeon through Abnormality events exclusively within The Noon of Violet Theme Pack.

It is the source of the E.G.O Solemn Lament.

Appearance

Funeral of the Dead Butterflies has the appearance of a monochrome humanoid with a butterfly for a head. It is dressed in formal attire which is primarily black in color save for a white undershirt. The butterfly that serves as its head is white with black markings, and has three layers of wings.

The Abnormality possesses five arms. While the main pair of arms are usually tucked into the pockets of its jacket, its second longer pair of arms carry a coffin behind its back. A fifth arm emerges from its chest, right under the collar of the undershirt.

The coffin it carries is black with a butterfly similar to the Abnormality's head depicted on its front. The coffin carries a large number of butterflies that fly out whenever the coffin is opened, attacking any targets in their path.

We look up to see white butterflies above us.

Though given wings, the butterflies wander the hallway, fluttering to nowhere.

We make our way to where it seems to rest a while, and we see a large coffin past the transparent glass window.

It was too grand for a one, yet too small for many.

'A lonesome coffin lies.'

'Eugh, a coffin…? I have a bad feeling about this. We probably shouldn't touch it, right?'

'That'd be the safer choice, yeah… but what if there's something in there that could help us?

Let's not mess with the coffin and leave.
We solemnly paid our respects to the coffin past the door, then left.

Butterflies without a home dance, fluttering toward us on a shearing, cold wind.

Are they writhing out of sorrow, or are they wingbeats of lamentation? We cannot know.

A remembrance rises as I quietly observe the butterflies. That something has merely and fully returned to whence it came.

All allies heal 10 HP and SP.

A cold cadaver of a butterfly rests silently inside the coffin.

The white butterflies, who so desperately fluttered their tiny wings in the faith that there must be something there at the end, are no more; gone, unnoticed by all.

What lies past the periphery of death, one asks. Truth be told, there is nothing, nothing at all.
