Headless Ichthys (O-02-11-26) is a HE-class Abnormality that can be battled on Mondays in Thread Luxcavation, and encountered in the Mirror Dungeon through Abnormality events and as a potential boss. It is also encountered on Stations 7 & 11 of Line 1: MADNESS.

It is the source of the E.G.O Fluid Sac.

Appearance

Headless Ichthys is a giant, gray headless fish. It has a clean cut on its neck where the start of its spine is visible. Rather than a set of pectoral fins, it possesses a pair of large arms with human-like hands. Though destroying the hands reveals that their skeletal structure is more akin to a fish's rather than a human's. Other features of the Abnormality include a wide pair of gills, a tall dorsal fin and a pointed tail fin.

Besides its lack of a head, the most notable feature of Headless Ichthys is the giant sac that extends out from its chest and abdomen which it uses as a blunt weapon to crush its targets. The sac is initially filled with blood, which it can expel through an opening out of its neck. Over time, the contents of the sac change to a blue liquid. A silhouette of a central nervous system can be seen inside the sac, though the observation logs also likens it to a flower.

It has the appearance of a fish.
-Its head has been cut off.
-The cut surface is clean; it appears to have been done with a single-sided edge, such as a knife or a scythe.
-It exhibits motion in spite of the lack of a head. I am aware that whether or not an Abnormality has an intact head is completely irrelevant to its ability to show activity, but I will note this regardless.
-An inflated sack visible around the chest area. Could not make clear observation.
-Will note new discoveries in a future report.

A silhouette is observed inside the inflated sack around the chest.
-It bears resemblance to a flower, or the central nervous system of a human.
-It expands the sack to use as blunt instrument, and can squeeze it at high speed to expel liquid.
-Overall, the sack is deemed to be a major component of its attacks; quick destruction should prove effective.

There is an indent on the earth, filled with water.

Something that lies within is constantly making ripples on its surface.

A closer approach revealed a headless fish swimming in that shallow puddle.

Its splashing movements are spirited, despite the glaring lack of a head.

Is it twisting its body from pain?

Or is it merely glad to be swimming in water?

Splash around together. I fell chest-first into the puddle and splashed around with the fish. Some Sinners joined in and splashed around together. We all felt a little better, for some reason. All Allies healed for 10 HP and SP.

Pop its sac. Win the battle to earn a Bleed E.G.O Gift The blood-filled sac of that fish must be causing it pain. Perhaps it can splash around more comfortably without that big sac of blood weighing it down? I ask the Sinners to pop its blood sac, but the fish turns aggressive and advances toward us upon hearing my order. All that splashing around most likely had little to do with its blood sac. The Fluid Sac E.G.O is extracted from Headless Ichthys.

Don Quixote and Faust's E.G.O were added in the Season 1 Battle Pass and are obtainable through the Dispenser from Season 2 onward.

• Ichthys is a fish symbol used by early Christians as a secret symbol to show that they were followers of Christ. The word itself is a Greek acronym ἸΧΘΥΣ, translating to Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior:

  • Χ - Χριστóς - Christos - Christ
  • Θ - Θεοῦ - Theou - God

    • Headless Ichthys' name is specifically based on a rendition of this symbol.
• The sprite size for Headless Ichthys is often inconsistent between Encounters, as it will sometimes be only slightly larger than the Sinners, while sometimes being much larger. This does not affect its battle, however.
