Peccatulum

From Limbus Company Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Peccatula (죄종, Joejong) are entities similar to but distinct from Distortions, reflecting the Sins of Cityfolk in seven different strains. They are a more recent phenomena, originating during the White Nights and Dark Days.[1] They are commonly encountered in Story and Mirror Dungeons.

Peccatula are not classified in a way resembling Abnormalities or Distortions; rather, their in-game names are meant to reflect their classifications (following the LCB Regular Check-up Intervallo).

Peccatula is the plural term, while the singular is Peccatulum.

Overview

Peccatula are a kind of aggressive and animalistic creature originating from humans. There are seven types of Peccatula correlating to Limbus Company's seven Sins, each of which have at least three classes. Later classes are described as "evolutions" of the original Peccatula, and take on a larger, stronger form than the originals. Faust suggests that these evolutions are a result of the Golden Bough's influence.[2]

While Distortions reflect something deep within the heart of the affected person, Peccatula, on the other hand, entirely dispose of the transformed's individuality. Hohenheim, for example, considered his potential transformation into a Peccatulum as him ceasing to exist altogether. The only thing that could be considered a remainder of the person-turned-Peccatulum is the type of Peccatula they come to be, which is based on the Sin they embodied in life.[2] The Peccatula appear to function in a way that represents their Sins, as Vergilius describes a Peccatulum Gulae (Gluttony) not knowing how to give up, "filled only with the desire to chew and swallow".[3]

Peccatula's behavior more closely resembles beasts, and they are more aggressive than Distortions are.[4]

The factions currently known to be able to create Peccatula are N Corp. and the Ring. Limbus Company and J Corp. are known to make use of them for various purposes.

Peccatulum Transformation

Peccatula are referred to as the origins and byproducts of the Distortion phenomena.[5] When someone tries and "fails" to distort, they will instead become a Peccatulum. It is currently unknown how or why someone might fail to distort. Rather, LCE Researcher Hohenheim states that he believes turning into either a Distortion or a Peccatulum is a simple game of chance with an equal 50/50 shot for either outcome.[6] However, this is in the context of the Monolith, and it is not entirely clear if his theory applies to all cases of Distortion or just those that are Monolith-induced.

Outside of naturally occurring and Monolith-induced Distortions, The Ring and Aseah's research demonstrates that an overwhelmingly high refraction rate with the Glass Window can also bring about this turning point.[7] In Leviathan, this process causes individuals to form into egg-like cocoons, which they later burst out of as either Distortions or Peccatula.[3] However, the same research seen in Canto VI: The Heartbreaking is not shown to lead to any cocoons, likely because Aseah had made strides in his research during the time between Leviathan and Limbus Company.

Irae

Peccatulum Irae is a dark scrawny figure whose entire body appears to be made up of rigid branch-like structures with glowing red cracks and flickering particles throughout. Two branches emerge from the front half of its body that split into what appear to be humanoid hands resting their fingertips on the ground. Its head has an elongated snout, almost like a beak, one large red eye, and two glowing antennae that twitch frequently.

Its first evolution variant shows a much brawny figure compared to its original variant, making up more of muscular thick structures with similar glowing red cracks and flickering particles. The red eyes on its head appears much larger and fiercer, with its beak looking more like a dangerously-large snout.

Its second evolution variant appears more golem-like compared to its previous variant. Instead of standing quadruped it instead stands upright on four small legs, with its former front legs replaced with two giant heat-blazing sickle appendages. Its eye can be fully seen at the top, brazen in blood red with red fire flickering above its eyeballs. The size of it is much larger than its first variant, towering over most humanoids.

Observation Logs

Log Writer: Heathcliff

You want me to talk about that pointed thing, aye?
Thing's shaped like a dried tentacle... There was some kind of red liquid in the middle.
Smacked it a couple times with my bat, and the lanky thing was a bit more durable it seemed.
Bigger problem, though... That thing's got a weird way of attacking.
It prods poor sods with its long snout, and... It starts shooting that red water into the body!
It gives me a heartburn like I had some hard stuff on an empty stomach... 's irritating...and suffocating...
A-Anyway, it makes you feel all weird. Makes you mad over wee stuff.
Some even blew up after getting hit by that juice. I really don't want that happening to me.
→ Weren't you always prone to getting mad over the smallest things? (Ishmael)
→ Don't piss me off. (Heathcliff)

Log Writer: Heathcliff

Oh, it's grown!

Its eyes are more bloodshot, and they're glarin' at me fierce... It's got a tail, too.

I think I can summarize this report with "it got creepier".

Looks like its wee dried squid legs got hydrated and slightly thickened. It's still got that red juice that gives me heartburn.

It's still got that stabby attack... but it certainly diversified its patterns.

Here's the most memorable one. It tried to smack me with its tail! Remember? It couldn't do that before.

Or maybe it could, but its stick-bug legs couldn't support its weight.

Well, it's not really my business.

Oh, here's another thing. The bug learned how to spark fire. Watch out for that burn, yeah?

I suppose I don't need to let it hit me to know that it'll irritate me.

I'll pummel it with my bat before it has the chance to make its move.

Log Writer: Heathcliff

… Haah, an even bigger version of these sods, eh.

It’s grown even bigger than before… like it’s gotten physical augmentations or something.

It stabs with its horn-like hands instead of pecking us with its beaks.

It’s just as irritatin’ when it hits me, but… the red water’s now hot like lava. That’s another layer of difficulty.

When it stabs the ground, pillars of fire burst from the earth. Now I see why the Backstreets blokes say that we should avoid death by fire at all costs.

These bastards, they keep… getting in my way. Glarin’ at me fierce with their blood-red eyes, bursting with flames from the top of its head...

What the hell does it even have to be so mad about?

I’m the one that’s frustrated. This… this awful feeling, like I’m about to burst. Like I’m trapped in.

Look, I don’t even have the time to waste on writing shite like this...

I’ve got to go. Right before me, there’s— (The log continues, but whatever was there is now scorched and illegible.)

Luxuriae

Peccatulum Luxuriae is a large pale flesh-coloured four-legged creature with vein-like patterns across its body. It has a long, flat tail like a salamander. Large bumps form along its spine that increase in size as they get closer to the head, which is heavily wrinkled, partitioned down the middle, and shaped like a shield. One bloodshot orange eyeball pops out from the right side of its "face." Two scrawny hands made of flesh twisted around each other in the form of a double helix can emerge from its head to attack its enemies.

Its first evolution variant appears much taller and larger, having taken on an erect posture. Its "face" remains mostly the same, though four arm appendages now appear to hold it and control its opening. Instead of a pair of hands, a large fleshy spike now emerges from its face to attack. Instead of moving on four legs, it now moves with its body, supported by its tail and two legs.

Observation Logs

Log Writer: Sinclair

Those look like awful lumps of flesh...
Has an ugly maw at the front... I thought it was a tongue at first, but what's inside that maw was a hand.
A hand, made from two twisted arms coiling around each other. I saw the eye inside stare into me.
As if that wasn't enough, it looked eager to devour me and nourish its flesh.
Even if I couldn't hear it, I could tell.
...It wasn't the first time I saw that kind of gaze.

Log Writer: Sinclair

The mass of flesh... has only gotten larger.

It was still lifting its upper body, like it was preparing to... pound on something.

The giant... mouth that was almost like its head... split even further, to the point where its entire body seemed to become a vertical maw.

It flesh is just as awful as before. That unpleasant, rotten fruit-like texture...

Ah, yeah... it still has those hands inside its maw, but...

... they've merged together, their nerves and muscle tissue seemingly... all twisted into one big arm. It's no longer in that weird spiral.

The hand at the end of that arm tried to grab anything it could get a grip on... Its eye rolling around furiously to find something that could... fill it up.

But the hand was so unwieldy, like it wasn't made to grab things in the first place...

Eventually, when it failed to grab anything properly, it turned into something like... a nail or a stake, and impaled us...

Which means that... the...

Ah... I'm sorry... I'm feeling a bit nauseous. I promise I'll finish this entry next time...

→ Huh? Where's the rest of the report, then? (Heathcliff)

→ It must've reminded him of that friend from school~ (Hong Lu)

→ If I was the lad, I won't be callin' that girl a 'friend'. (Heathcliff)

→ I think we have everything we need? Don't worry about coming back to this, Sinclair. (Dante)

→ Indeed. This appears to be sufficient information to constitute a report. (Faust)

→ ... Thanks. (Sinclair)

Pigritiae

Peccatulum Pigritiae is a large round rock-like figure with wide red cracks along its body, all of which meet at its center, which has a single yellow eyeball nestled deep inside. In battle, red humanoid arms appear from the cracks to attack units.

Its first evolution variant shows a smaller rock with four other rocks jutting near its center, with blood veins supporting the rock-like formation in the form of a cross. Its yellow eyeball still rests at the center of the rock figure, but has gained more mobility in the terms of having red veins aiding it in movement.

The second evolution sees it more rooted into the ground and spread out, the main body losing its round form and becoming more jagged. The red veins now spread across the ground and hold up smaller rocks by the peccatulum's side.

Observation Logs

Log Writer: Yi Sang

It resembled a rock.
I am uncertain how an object of its mass is able to move. Its appearance could not be any less adherent to laws of science, but when I look back, it might have been an inherently scientific object after all.
It would levitate in the air and stay still.
It rolled its eyeball lodged in the center. And when it felt like it, it would ram into some persons.
I am not yet sure what motivates it to move. Even so, I wonder if it's necessary to learn its reasons at all.
It's possible that this pebble is alive.
No one would call it an organism, but by the same token, I may not be alive if no one refers to me as such.
Perhaps it was simply a matter of laziness.
We were lazy to think that it mustn't be what it thought to be.
That pebble is probably a lazy living being.
And the same could be said of me.

Log Writer: Yi Sang

Red things seeped from what resembles a rock.

Its nature could not be determined; it very well could be veins, muscle tissue, or aught else that carries blood. Thus the most ideal nomenclature for the fluid, for the moment, would be ‘red things’.

With its every movement, the four smaller rocks held by the red things wavered precariously.

It rolls its eyeball still, yet naught seems enough to stir it; it refuses to even ram us with its body.

Instead, it merely swings with what is in its grasp.

Though it oft lashes with two or so of what is grasped, it swings all four rocks at once, from time to time.

As those numbers must originate from its own conscious decisions… I consider this to be a living being.

In other words, I am, in turn, alive as well still.

I merely find it regrettable that the rock is no longer levitating.

It is quite miraculous that such a thin thing can endure the weight of such a heavy boulder… Yet, as it is attached to the earth, it is self-evident truth that it can no longer be said to be in a state of levitation.

What has once levitated, though bereft of wings, has fallen to the earth.

And the rock vacillates hither to thither, fettered to the swaying red thing with no freedom to call its own.

Though its form has changed, its nature remains that it is a lazy living being.

Yet, it may also be said that such staunch resilience to change may itself be a form of assiduity.

What changes is slothfulness, yet what changes not is diligence.

What an odd sophistry.

Such is all I have to say.

→ I.D.K.W.T.H.H.T.A. (Ryōshū)

→ C’mon, mate. Even the incomprehensible lass can’t understand what the hell you’re talking about. Write plainly for once, yeah? (Heathcliff)

→ I believe that this record was composed in quite the luculent incontrovertibility… (Yi Sang)

→ Lucu— Incontro— Haah. C’mon, Yi Sang. You’re doing this on purpose at this point, aren't ya? (Gregor)

→ … I have naught else to say. (Yi Sang)

Log Writer: Yi Sang

Thus gathered have the stones to raise a mountain.

Yet where lies the green, its placement so rightful upon the mountains? A glacial cold permeates a corner of heart mine.

Rocks are mired in the grasps of the red thing still.

Unchanged are its motions, swinging and lashing the rocks with abandon—or casting them far away.

Yet, the head that had once wavered so is visible no more.

Nay, the stone is now rooted steadfast into the earth, and the rotund sphere has transfigurated into a deltoidal triangle;

an accurate assessment would state as such—while the head remains still, the wavering has ceased.

What stable form, what stalwart balance it has attained.

Indeed, at the edge of change was evolution found for this entity.

Yet even evolution is no deliverance from torpidity.

The entity’s tranquility, a consequence of electing immobility with stability, is no assiduity at all.

I know not what movement shall it take at the end’s end.

Should its motions cease, so too shall it suspend its sentience.

When, in the end, all comes to cease, it cannot be said any longer that it lives.

How unideal, how odd.

Such is all I have to say.

Gulae

Peccatulum Gulae is a densely packed bundle of grey flowers with dark green stems trailing behind them. At the center of each flower is an inward spiral of teeth, like a leech's mouth. A few leaves on the stems reach outward, in front of the flowers, and twitch frequently. A few green eyeballs dangle from the highest parts of each stem.

Its first evolution variant shows a much larger loose stalks of 3 grey cottony flowers with a hole gaping open in the middle, messily coated with blood. On the stalks connecting the flowers is a green eye staring in the middle of the stems.

Observation Logs

Log Writer: Ishmael

It happened while I was passing by a jungle.
It was a dense green wilderness full of tall flowers and trees, as well as outlandish bees and butterflies.
You can find all kinds of unfathomably strange creatures in a place like that.
For example... That flower.
It's said that a plant can't normally move on its own. One[sic] it takes root, it stays there for the rest of its life.
That's what people consider a major difference between plants and animals.
But those "plants" were like a pack of rabid beasts.
A group of them charged at us, raising their teethed flowers like it was their head.
Their roots morphed into limbs that no longer serve the original purpose, and there didn't seem to be any space in their bodies for storing nutrients.
Yet, those scrawny stems were hungrily seeking the missing sustenance.
Continuously shoving things into the mouth, despite being unable to absorb any of it...
What an odd creature that was.

Log Writer: Ishmael

Looks like it’s bloomed a bit more than before, doesn’t it? It looks a bit greener.

I remember it looking completely dried out, like it’s about to wither away… Not that it’s gotten any easier on the eyes, that is.

Now it has three flower heads and stems stretched out like limbs. I think I saw a tail, too… It’s only gotten more unsettling to look at.

Maybe it devoured a human or something. It’s got plenty of blood on its sharp and fearsome teeth that reminds me of a catfish's…

Actually, never mind that. There’s something weird about these things.

The monster snatched us up using its roots… stems… or whatever it is… like arms.

And immediately devoured us like a starving beast.

But… after it devoured us, it immediately spat us back out like it tasted something awful. I suppose this means that it didn’t eat us for nutrients. Not that it could, given that I didn’t see any digestive tracts or any other organs for that purpose.

But it kept trying and trying… to shove something in its maws.

Not because it’s hungry, not because it needs the nutrients…

Knowing that its stomach, if it even exists, can’t be filled.

Maybe, at the end of the day, this monster doesn’t even need to eat.

Maybe it’s all about the desire to devour. And that’s all it’s got.

Like I was myself, not so long ago.

→ Do you still remember the things she said? (Rodion)

→ Well… I doubt I’ll ever forget what that bastard said, but that’s all. I might turn around to look at the path I sailed through… but I’m not going back. (Ishmael)

Morositatis

Peccatulum Morositatis is a floating transparent gelatinous figure filled with a blue fluid of some sort. The lower half of its body protrudes outward and a tangled bunch of pink organs can be seen inside. One light blue eyeball floats at the top of the figure, connected to the lower organs by a single thin cable. Two "arms" reach outward from between the "head" and "body" of the figure and curl back into a spiral shape.

Its first evolution appears much larger than its original form, its internal organs at the lower half are more visible with more organs resembling that of humans in clearer view. One light blue eyeballs floats over its newly formed head resembling that of a shrimp, floating with more tiny tentacles at the bottom. On top of its head are a pair of long, flowing tentacles. A small group of limbs have grown just below its head, holding an orb, which it can use to attack.

In its second evolution its body has become much longer, with the tentacles now arranged along the sides of its body. It has also developed a white veil-like layer on the top of its body. The small limbs below its head have developed into arms, the topmost pair continuing to hold the (now larger) orb, which it continues to use to attack. The pair of tentacles on the top of its head have grown too, with what appears to be lures now at their ends.

Observation Logs

Log Writer: Meursault

-An insect-like entity with a transparent body.
-Unable to identify several physical requirements for maintenance of life; cannot determine it as an organism.
-Its body is filled with water.
-Objects that appear to be organs are observed inside, but they do not appear to function as organs.
-The water does not appear to play any part in biological activities, either.
-The body of liquid appears to be stagnant.
-It has the face of someone lost deep in thought. It could merely be a resemblance to a species of zooplankton.
-Prolonged observation makes my mind sink.
-Sinking… Reminding me of the past.
-…It is not a pleasant feeling.

Log Writer: Meursault

- This is reminiscent of the previously observed insectoid entity with a translucent body.

- More organs required to maintain a biological organism has been identified inside its body. Some of it has matured further.

- However, no physiological characteristics enough to meet the criteria to constitute a living organism has been identified.

- What appears to be a 'hand' has been identified. It is visible from the outside, and is wielding a round object.

- A close analysis of its behaviors and attack patterns reveals that the round object is a fluid sac of sorts.

- The fluid inside the entity's body appears to be connected with the sac. When the sac inflates, the internal fluid on its main body shrinks.

- Several organs that may constitute a 'leg' or an 'antenna' has been identified. No particular usage outside of offensive use has been found.

- Prolonged observation of this entity remains inadvisable.

- Reminders of the negative past events remain unpleasant.

Log Writer: Meursault

- The fluid sac has grown large on the previously observed insectoid entity with a translucent body.

- With the increased volume of internal fluid in this entity, it may be distinguished from the previously observed entities by the fact that the outline of its organs are no longer clearly visible.

- For the same aforementioned reason, it has been observed that using its internal fluid as a means of attack, proportionally speaking, no longer shrinks its reserves significantly.

- A new organ that connects its head to its back has been observed. It is reminiscent of scales, waves, or diaphanous veil.

- A new behavioral pattern has been observed in which it consumes an unknown substance from human brains via a passage that may be assumed to be an oral organ.

- It was speculated that the entity was using parts or blood of the said organ as nutrients, but such was not the case. However, increase in its internal fluid has been observed immediately after the consumption.

- The fluid filling its body cannot properly be defined within the confines of chemical compositions. On sight and on touch, the fluid has a distinctive property of strongly stimulating the memories of negative past events.

- … Mental state that may be evaluated as ‘negative’ has been continuing long after contact.

- It still remains unpleasant.

Superbiae

Peccatulum Superbiae is a large blue wheel-shaped entity with spikes along its rim. Red and flesh-colored scraps are tied around its spokes. At the very center of the wheel is one dark blue eyeball.

Its first evolution shows little difference from initial form. However, the blue wheel is much larger, with bigger spikes along the rim, and a pair of blood vein-like arm appendages sticking out below the wheels.

Observation Logs

Log Writer: Faust

The wheel has often been the symbol of technological advancement.
It represents humanity's realization of its ability to think up and actualize things that weren't in the nature.
At the same time, it marks the beginning of humanity's transformation into prideful creatures.
That might be why pride takes the form of a wheel.
The steel circle doesn't ever seem to stop rotating.
It doesn't care if it gashes at flesh or crushes patches of grass.
Because, it can roll…
While others cannot.

Log Writer: Faust

Human hands and arms are not only parts of the body, but also indispensable tools of creation.

From creating small trinkets, to simple mechanisms, to the complicated designs of Workshop weaponry.

They are tools given to humans at the moment of birth; tools used to bring humanity to endless heights.

That is why the second Pride has free use of its arms.

Yet, the fact that it remains bound to a wheel must originate from the comfort-seeking part of the freedom availed by the two free, dexterous arms

Yet Pride will not, as humans have done, use their greatest tools only for creation.

It will trash and rip with its arms and hands... and inevitably be a part of some destruction.

Its motivation for such violence is simple.

Because it can.

→ It is a tragic thing for an invention to grow distant from the mind that first conceived it. A greater sorrow is that such is true of most creations of men. Including those of my design... (Yi Sang)

→ Does it have to be tragic? Destruction is but a beautiful part of creation. (Ryōshū)

→ Such is also not necessarily an incorrect sentiment. (Yi Sang)

Invidiae

Currently, Peccatulum Invidiae has only appeared to exist as exact replicas of Sinners and Sinner Identities, the only visual discrepancy being them shrouded in a dark purple mist. Peccatulum Invidiae? instances also radiates a violet electrical current around itself. Notably, Peccatulum Invidiae instances are capable of utilizing Support Passives and E.G.Os.

While Invidiae can appear as replicas, any attempt of speech, notably when using (corroded) E.G.O, would be in the form of a loud garbled gibberish ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ tone.

The true form of Peccatulum Invidiae can be glimpsed through their corpses. Dead Peccatulum Invidiae instances appear similar to the corpses of other dead Peccatula, being a bulblike mass of flesh with a single purple eye at the center.

Notably, unevolved Peccatulum Invidiae and the Class 2 evolved form (Peccatulum Invidiae?) appears only to be differentiated by additional strength, as denoted by the Peccatulum Invidiae Class 2.pngPeccatulum Invidiae Class 2Peccatulum Invidiae Class 2.png Peccatulum Invidiae Class 2- Damage Dealt +15%

Eugh, ya sure this is the time to be writing a report?

I mean, the ‘Peccatula’ are supposed to be like those monstrous things, aren’t they?

Like that mass of flesh, or that toothy plant thing…

But… they’re just like us.

Not just in their appearance, too. They’re copying our moves!

Are ya sure you’re not leaving those ‘Identity Cards’ everywhere, Dante?

Phew. Okay. Now that I’m taking a closer look at ‘em… I guess they’re not ‘just like us’.

There’s this dark layer over them, and they all look a bit opaque, too.

Welp, good thing they appear to be weaker than us. They’re just copycats.

Heh heh, there really wasn’t much to worry about, huh?

They’re just cheap knockoffs, right~?

It really freaked me out when they used an E.G.O, though…

Also, um, ya sure ya didn’t let some of our Identity Cards slip out of your pocket? You should check, just in case.

→ I don’t know if they were ‘weaker than us’… I’d say they were about as strong as you guys. Besides, I will never just leave something important like that lying around. (Dante)

→ Hm… I saw you hastily digging your pockets as we left, Manager Bud. Are ya sure? (Gregor)

→ Dante, you must never misplace your Identity Cards. Please take greater care to store them safely. Losing them will result in a consequence greater than having to write an incident report. (Faust)

→ ... Are they really that expensive? (Dante)

→ They are not items that can be measured by monetary value. Please pay utmost care in storing them. (Faust)

Log Writer: Rodion

Mm… It’s like looking into a mirror, but not exactly.

These ones were all covered in some kinda dark, unsettling mist.

The way that the dark mist danced over their bodies... almost felt as though I was staring at my own shadow.

Yeah, a ‘shadow’. Almost like they’re manifestations of our darker sides. I know it makes no sense, but still.

Oh, and… this one was stronger than the last.

They used the same techniques that we do, but the force behind it was way stronger.

Our attacks felt ineffective, while theirs really hurt when they connected.

Haah… They know our moves, but they’re stronger than us? That’s… cheating.

Would’ve helped a lot if we had their dark mist. I really could've used that extra power.

Besides, getting killed by those things isn’t… the best feeling in the world, y’know?

They just stand there quietly, like we weren’t good enough to beat ‘em. It’s super irritating.

Haah… Nah, I shouldn't be such a downer.

Hey, let’s think about it like this. I can look into a mirror, but a mirror only shows a side of me, right~?

I’m sure there’s something that those fakes can’t copy from us. Something they lack.

We’re real, and they’re not. There’s gotta be a way to beat those annoying Peccatula.

→ What they lack is our Executive Manager’s splendiferous command. That will be the deciding factor in turning the tide of this battle. (Outis)

→ It is as Miss Rodya has said. We have prevailed against greater foes in the past; a path shall open for us, surely. (Yi Sang)

→ Totes~ They’re nothing compared to what we…(something was written here, but it’s been erased) faced before! (Rodion)

Trivia

  • 'Joejong' (죄종) is the Korean translation for peccata capitalia, the Latin term for the Seven Deadly Sins.
  • 'Peccatulum' is the Latin word for peccadillo, a small, relatively unimportant offense or sin. Each Peccatulum's name refers to the deadly sin they represent:
    • Gulae - Gluttony
    • Irae - Wrath
    • Pigritiae - Sloth
      • Acediae was the name for Sloth in Latin and the original name designated for said sin, but after the update on April 11th 2024, it was changed to match the meaning of Sloth rather than its latin name.
        • The Limbus Company trailer featured Pigritia rather than Acedia, implying that it was changed to Acedia then reverted later.
    • Morositatis - Gloom
    • Superbiae - Pride
    • Luxuriae - Lust
    • Invidiae - Envy
  • Peccatulum Luxuriae's Log foreshadows Kromer's transformation into the Dreamer of Human Wholeness.
  • Peccatulum Morositatis appears to be inspired by Daphnia or 'water fleas', a genus of small aquatic crustaceans commonly found in freshwater habitats such as stagnant ponds.
  • Prior to the April 11th 2024 update, each of the Class 1 Peccatula had unique Classification Codes and were categorized as ZAYIN-class.
    • Gulae: S-08-04-01
    • Irae: S-08-04-02
    • Pigritiae: S-08-04-03
    • Morositatis: S-08-10-01
    • Superbiae: S-08-11-01
    • Luxuriae: S-08-11-02
    • The Class 2 Peccatula did not have a proper code (instead using ??-??-??-??) and were categorized as TETH-class.
    • The letter code 'S' (likely standing for 'Sin') and first number code '08' are not used by any known Abnormality, suggesting they were unique to the Peccatula.
  • Prior to the completion of Intervallo V: LCB Regular Check-up, the Peccatula of Class 2 and onwards are simply named with question marks (?) in their names. (i.e. Peccatulum Irae Class 2 was Peccatulum Irae?, and Class 3 was Peccatulum Irae??)
  • Each of the Peccatulum used to have unique kill animations when they defeat a Sinner:
    • Gulae leaps on its victim and consumes the upper half of their body.
    • Irae ignites its victim with flames.
    • Pigritiae causes blood to squirt out of its victim's body.
    • Superbiae causes the victim to temporarily spasm while they lie on the floor.
    • Luxuriae's victims become partially skeletal.
