The old G Corp. was one of the Wings of the City, and oversaw District 7. After the collapse of the Wing following the events of the Smoke War, the current G Corp. took control of the District.

Overview

The old G Corp. was one of several Wings involved in the Smoke War, supporting the old L Corp. and ultimately collapsing after losing the war. They sought an extraordinary amount of energy from the old L Corp., presumably to help further their research into biomimetic augmentations.[1] As a part of the war effort, the old G Corp. preformed augmentation procedures on their soldiers, which has led to these augmentations being most commonly associated with the veterans of the Wing. The Wing collapsed around the end of the Smoke War, placing its collapse roughly a decade before the events of Limbus Company.[2]

Biomimetic Augmentations

The exact Singularity of the old G Corp. is unknown, but it was likely used in their biomimetic augmentation procedures. These augments mimic traits of various species of insects, allowing for augmented limbs, such as arms that can be used as weapons and legs that have increased jump distance,[3] as well as other traits like wings or additional limbs that grew out of the soldiers' backs. Undergoing a procedure came with a variety side effects, including delirium, that significantly impacted those who suffered from them.[4] Additionally, in nearly all cases the insect parts would expand to parts of the body that were not part of the original procedure, and many soldiers' faces would be overtaken by insectile pincers and horns.[5]

These procedures were given to nearly every employee of the old G Corp., with many unknowingly signing on to a contract when joining the Wing that required them to receive the augmentations.[6][7]

Development and research into G Corp.'s augmentations were largely led by Hermann, a Director of the Wing, who even performed operations herself.[8] Her most successful work was the procedure done on her teenage son Gregor,[9] who suffered no side effects and had regeneration properties unlike the others who received the augmentations.[10] This resounding success with Gregor led to him being used for recruitment advertisements for G Corp., with him being featured on flyers, magazine covers, and posters, many of which were never taken down even after Gregor's desertion and the eventual end of the war.[11][12]

It is implied that Hermann made use of her position as a Director and researcher to do personal experiments using this technology, specifically during the operation on her son. On top of Gregor's regenerative abilities which already set him apart from the other G Corp. employees, Hermann hints to Gregor that her experiments on him were an investment of hers and that there are even more things related to his augmentation that are unique to him that Gregor has yet to discover.[13]

The culmination of Old G Corp.'s biomimetic augmentation plan was able to create three truly successful specimens that were deployed as decisive weapons during the Smoke War: the Maggot Prince, the Moth Princess, and the Lord of Flies. Beyond these, it was rumored that a fourth had been created, but hadn't been able to "hatch": this was the Roach Emperor, a weapon that was incubated in Gregor himself.

Notable Groups

G Corp. Veterans

For more information about the Old G Corp. Soldier enemies, see Old G Corp. Soldiers.

Following the events of the Smoke War, G Corp. quickly turned on its soldiers and left them without any form of support.[14] Soon after the Wing collapsed, the public sentiment turned against the old G Corp. and these frustrations were largely taken out on the veterans of the Wing.[15] Due to their association with a fallen Wing, finding work proved difficult for any of G Corp.'s former employees, which was worsened by the fact that many of the soldiers had joined the war young and had only ever known life on the battlefield.[16] Another contributing factor might be the fact that old G Corp. soldiers were known to cannibalize the enemies they killed in the Smoke War, further tarnishing the image of the veterans.

A former Head Manager of the old G Corp. who still felt he had the responsibility to keep his men alive eventually moved his comrades to the Backstreets of District 4.[17] In order to survive, they joined the “Enkephalin Rush”, looting through the fallen Lobotomy Corporation branches to steal the Enkephalin left behind.[18]

Trivia

  • The old G Corp.'s research centered around Biomimetics, which is the study of how problems are solved in nature and how those solutions could be applied to human engineering, mechanics, and more.
  • The Lord of Flies is likely a reference to Beelzebub, most frequently known as a demon, which is often referred to with that same title.
