Story

Mirror Dungeon Event
Hole-In-The-Wall.png

A person stands in the square.

They look this way, waving an arm.

The cavity in their head may be an eye,
or a bullet hole.

If it is, it must have been the work
of the revolver in their hand.

That person points the gun at you.

Approach them.

You don’t fear the pointed gun.

Even if they were to pull the trigger…

It doesn’t matter how many times the hammer strikes.

You know the bullet will hit that person’s head.

In the blink of an eye,
the gun aimed at their own temple,
and soon fired.

The person was gone,
leaving an ashen coat on the floor.

Trivia

  • An E.G.O design for this Abnormality was teased for Meursault.[1]
  • The abnormality may be a reference to Jean-Paul Sartre's play No Exit. The imagery of a figure with a hole in the place of his face seems to reference the story of one of the characters, Estelle, who had a relationship with a man who eventually shot himself in the head due to her actions. In Hell, Estelle mistakens another character, Garcin, to be that man, convinced that he is hiding the hole in his face. The associated E.G.O Gift appears connected to the same image: further into the play, Garcin himself discusses his own death by shooting squad, recalling the image of his wife holding his elegant, coat littered with bullet holes.
    • The concept of the Abnormality itself appears based on the concept of the play, that "Hell" is brought upon a person by the perceptions and conceptualizations others have of them. Similarly, the outcome of Hole-in-the-Man's actions is determined by the player's actions: if considered harmless and approached, even with their gun pointed towards the Sinners, Hole-in-the-Man will shoot themself, leaving the Sinners unharmed; if considered dangerous, their gun will hit the Sinners even while pointing the gun towards their own head.
