Highway Devotee is a non-fightable Abnormality that can be encountered in Abnormality events in the Mirror of Mirrors.

Appearance

Highway Devotee is a tall humanoid wearing an oversized brownish-green cloak, its body consisting of upwards of eighteen bald, gray and emotionless heads stacked neatly upon one another. It possesses long and thin gray arms outstretching from somewhere within the cloak. The Abnormality holds up a wooden milepost in its right hand.

There's a long, wide road ahead.

You see someone with a sign at the entrance.

'This is a one-way road. No U-turns.'

'If you take this road, it'll take ages to come back here.'

As the person claims, the road seems to be stretched almost endlessly into the distance.

Go back the way you came instead of taking the main road.

'The road might seem vacant right now, but take it for a bit and you'll see. That the road is jam-packed with cars, and you'd be slowed to a crawl.'

'Turning around is not an option, either. There would be a car right behind you by the time you decide to go back.'

'You made the right choice.'

It lightly smiled.

The sign was still held high for whoever might enter this highway in the future.

Take the byway instead of taking the main road.
'Not a good choice.'

'Everyone is following the same rules to traverse this road. In any case, this highway is for everyone.'

'I assure you, the god of traffic won't forgive cheap shortcuts like that.'

As we took the byway, I had to endure the piercing glare on my back for a good while.

Nothing happened.

Trivia

  • Due to the nature of both Abnormalities being amalgamations of several bodies indicating a mix of conflicting directions at a crossroad, it is potentially related to Explorer on a Bereaved Road.
