The tree stands, as it often does in moments of this facility's indolence, tall. Branches, spread wide as if in praise of the lost, are adorned with the heads and limbs of several people.
People who, up until quite recently, this child had worked seamlessly alongside. Clerk and Agent alike, both necessary gears for Lobotomy Corporation's functioning... Neither seemed immune to being reduced to red stains upon this pristine white atrium.
The E.G.O Suit of an Agent he recalls as having quite some seniority. The baton of a diligent Clerk. The torn leg of the Record Team's Captain, who had seemed immortal in their finely honed virtues.
All symbols of their manager's negligence, too easily severed from the attention required of those in power.
The child knows well that his assigned E.G.O. Weapon is entirely incapable of suppressing this Abnormality.
Yet as he alone remains, unscathed and silent, he gazes.
Up, craning his neck to meet the yellow eyes peering down. While all it responds to is the watchful eye of a manager, perhaps, he declares... it may understand his Heaven.
Behind the eyes, he dreams, as all of us must...
... Of a forgiving world. One in which no wrathful gaze determines our lives and deaths. Of finding purpose and peace in ourselves, without regard for the eyes above.
The Burrowing Heaven. Piercing through to live inside your gaze.
It was as if those yellow eyes saw through to his every desire and want. An endless, beckoning, unreachable paradise reflected back through the light they caught from the fluorescent lamps overhead. A hole bored down to a world that knows no death.
Just as she'd promised him so long ago, he thought. Perfection that you'd never dream of looking away from... it's here, separated only by a thin cornea.
But reaching through that precipice to take hold of that Heaven is not a simple task. Sacrifice and persistence are crucial steps to realize the ideal world.
That's why an uninterrupted attention is necessary. Drowning out all outside influences, he peers into that undying reality.

As the remaining Welfare Team Agents file out of the elevator behind him, the Abnormality's piercing gaze gradually dwindles into one lone iris, directed entirely towards himself, as if ignoring those firing, hacking, and crushing at its trunk.
All observers must see themselves as its sole focus in turn.

Its branches slowly pull themselves downwards, crumpling its worshipful stance to the unreachable sky far above. The fruits of insignificant colleagues fall, discarded, to the floor.
Perfection that you'd never dream of, but oh, how could anyone ignore it once they see? In this child's eyes, any Heaven born this far beneath the Earth could only be a pale imitation of what he believes awaits him above ground.
But many such dreams can, in fact, only be realized in the depths of Lobotomy Corporation.
BLACK Damage was not this Abnormality's weakest point, and the E.G.O Weapon he had been assigned was, by all known means, only capable of dealing RED Damage.
Yet the thorns driven deep into its flesh are undeniable.
Such an exception can only be thought of as the results of this child's unyielding conviction to bring about that Heaven he had promised himself.
BLACK Damage, that which damages both body and mind alike, had surged forth where there was previously only RED Damage, that which tears at only the body.
Perhaps this child sought to bury deep his own hopeless longings and desires to reach that Heaven.

With a smirk and a bow, the child nods curtly to the fretting Welfare Team Agent.

And with a broad smile, the other child pats him firmly upon the back. Such displays of joviality at such a time were typical of the especially prudent.
Retreating into the elevator along with the rest of the Welfare Team, the child nods dutifully, as if dismissing the concern as unwarranted.
The child turns to face the clerk, working diligently to sweep up and heft away the several shattered pairs of eyeglasses and skulls. Then, towards the overhead cameras.
To the manager that no doubt watches from above, he offers a small wave and smile.
It was as if the child was proudly declaring "I did that, you know? Isn't that worth a bit of your praise?"
Heaven is waiting for him, he need only be noticed to grasp it.
Yet as above, so goes the uncaring, downcast gaze below.
