The Gesellschaft

The Gesellschaft is a faction composed of Mirror World variants of Faust, working together to gather knowledge of all things. Through this faction, Faust has worked towards her ultimate goal: to know all of the City.[1]
Overview
The Gesellschaft is usually accessible through an always-open mental connection between Fausts of various Mirror Worlds and the Gesellschaft, but it can take on various appearances depending on the circumstances. In Canto IX, a meeting is forcibly called by Limbus Company's Faust and the Gesellschaft administrators take the form of floating stones. It is implied oral communication is infrequent, lest a "Classical Walpurgisnacht" is called. The Classical Walpurgisnacht forcibly summons the administrators of the Gesellschaft, as well as whomever called for the meeting to begin. This normally occurs in times of absolute necessity, as a Faust may request particular information above their access level, though typically at the cost of being mocked or demoted.
Within the Gesellschaft, it is considered taboo to rely too much on the Gesellschaft for information, as well as referring to oneself in the first person. If one is to repeatedly break the organization's rules, there is a willingness to kill the rulebreaker.
Information accessed via the Gesellschaft is shown to be preserved. The experiences of any given Faust are recorded and shared with the Gesellschaft, from which the Fausts of other mirror worlds can access the information. This is different from the use of Identities, where mirror world information overwrites the memories and experiences of the Sinners, and upon unequipping an Identity the sinner forgets what occurred.[2]
A Faust's connection to the Gesellschaft functions correctly as long as they are within a dimension that has already been analyzed by the Gesellschaft, being severed in the event it is unknown to the organization. The Backdoor of Mephistopheles can restore this connection. Dimensions that have not been analyzed, such as the unknown space that WARP Trains travel through, result in a loss of connection.
Structure
Despite being composed of variants of the same person, the Gesellschaft has a hierarchical structure with uneven sharing of information. Some Fausts, such as the Faust featured in the primary story, are treated as lesser members of the organization, frequently being taunted for their failures to acquire the same depth of information as those that are in control. Fausts that willingly disregard the use of the Gesellschaft, such as Heishou Pack - Mao Branch Adept Faust or The Index Proselyte:【Paper Slip】Faust are similarly considered lesser. Even in cases lacking a purposeful disregard of the information, a Faust's ability to access the retained information can only be limited; seemingly unable to be fully severed.[3]
Among the upper management of the Gesellschaft, at least five Fausts manage the flow of information, with the Faust featured in the primary story being a former administrator, now disgraced. All administrators have been shown to feature a name structured as '[Adjective] and [Adjective] Faust' with room for additional adjectives within the title[4], while the Faust within the primary story is given the name 'Naive Faust?', before being disgraced further into changing her name to 'Stupid Faust?'
There are several tiers of information access levels within the organization, determining if one would be able to investigate information without the need for approval from upper management. There appears to be rules on the accessing of information even while one remains at the higher administrator levels, with the Faust within the primary story having been demoted due to her "leeching" off the Gesellschaft.
Known Members
Across the Identities of Faust usable in Limbus Company's combat, all appear to utilize the Gesellschaft besides Heishou Pack - Mao Branch Adept Faust, who willingly ignores it in favor of her master's teachings, and The Index Proselyte:【Paper Slip】Faust, who has information withheld from her by the other members of the organization due to her allegiance to the Index.
