Canto II: The Unloving

The duo of Saude and Effie first introduced themselves to the Sinners in J Corp. as they looked through a pawnshop. They had been given orders to assist the LCB in a heist on the Wing. The two explained a flawless plan to the Sinners, much to their surprise, or at least mainly Ishmael's. The Golden Bough they had been tasked to retrieve was being treated as a prize in a game of cards involving several of the local Syndicates, and the two LCCB members told the Sinners that they would be expected to play particular roles in order to infiltrate the game. While they explained this plan to the Sinners, the pawnshop was visited by a Tingtang Gang extortioner, who started threatening the pawnbroker. Despite Saude's telling the Sinners simply ignore this, Don Quixote stood up to the Tingtang Gang members, beginning a slow descent for the perfected plan. The Sinners were faced with no other option as they battle several Tingtangers.

The group fled from the Pawnshop, and they began to rework the plan while being chased by several Tingtangers. Saude attempted to meet the Sinners midway, and shared with them a new plan that involved them taking the place of the Tingtang Syndicate. They made their way to the scrapyard owned by the Syndicate, with the two LCCB members explaining how the Syndicate operated before they met the Tingtang Boss, who was quickly defeated. The various Tingtang Members, including the boss, had their clothes stolen by the Sinners for the sake of disguising themselves. Providing the Sinners with Wishpower, a Singularity that can grant luck to whoever uses it, Saude explained that they would need to cheat during the game in order to win the Golden Bough.

The duo took take the place of croupiers within the casino housing the Golden Bough event. Working with the plan to escort Rodion to the game on the upper floors, the plan has another wrench thrown into it as Dante and Don Quixote accidentally used a slot machine, getting a jackpot at the cost of using all of the stored Wishpower. This jackpot caused a great commotion on the casino floor, and the as casino staff arrived to check the IDs of the winners. Due to the way chance works in J Corp., it was obvious to the staff that the jackpot winners had cheated with Wishpower, and they started attack the Sinners. Saude reminded everyone that they would had needed the Wishpower that was just wasted on the slot machine, and that she had already made a plan to harvest more Wishpower. However, before this step of the plan could be put in motion, the Wishpower container that she planned to use in the plan was destroyed by Heathcliff's fight with one of the casino staff members. Saude watched the month's work of luck dissipate, and declared that she would never discuss any further plans with the group, succumbing to despair.

The LCB continued on through the casino, and despite the lack of plans, they managed to make it to the top floor and have Rodya participate in the game where she won the rights to Golden Bough. The Sinners recouped with Saude and Effie in the elevator that led to the vault storing the Bough where Saude questioned Rodya as to how she won without Wishpower, but struggled to believe Rodya's answer of simply having faith within herself. The duo stayed behind as the Sinners continued through J Corp. on their way to acquire the Bough.

Canto III: The Unconfronting

After the Sinners completed their checkup into the K Corp. Nest, they met with Saude and Effie for a second time, this time in their LCCB equipment. The duo planned to assist the Sinners search Calw, Sinclair's home village, for the Golden Bough. Saddened by the fact Vergilius did not join the Sinners, they quickly moved on to complete their job.

Not all would work out however, as the duo met Kromer and her Nagel und Hammer forces, leading to the death of Effie. In a torture room of the Lobotomy Corp Branch within the town, Saude was tortured by several Inquisitors. Once the torturers were killed, the Sinners checked on Saude, who was barely able to speak but managed to ask on the state of Effie. The Sinners lied, telling her that he was still alive, before a group of Peccatula attacked. Not long after the battle was over, Guido arrived for his final confrontation, this time only focusing on Dante. Saude aimed her gun at Dante as they tried to fight back, and said that she would fire the moment they turned back the clock, and admitted to them that she was told by the Inquisition that Effie could survive if she sold out the Sinners. Guido began to crush Dante's head, and it appeared for a moment that this is where Dante would die. However, Sinclair made a desperate attack against the massive Inquisitor, and Guido's attention was drawn long enough that Saude took the chance and fired a shot at Guido's head, killing him for good. Saude confessed to the Sinners that she had known she knew Effie was already dead, and that her wounds worsening. She told them not to waste time trying to save her, and that she planned to go out distracting the Inquisitors and giving the LCB more time to complete their mission. The Sinners were reluctant to accept this offer, and attempted to convince her to let them try to save her, but Saude refused and asked Faust to take the group out of the torture room. Before they left, Saude requested that Faust tell Vergilius to give her a visit, after they made it out of the L Corp. Branch. Saude was left behind as the group continued through the Branch, and the Sinners assumed that she died not long after they left.

Canto V: The Evil Defining

Following her assumed death, the Sinners would later be informed by Pilot that Saude not only survived, but was also promoted to the rank of manager, saved by the arrival of the LCCA. Though she wished to see the Sinners again, she was busy on a mission while the LCB were in U Corp. The Sinners told Pilot to send their regards to her when he got the chance, with Sinclair particularly pleased to have gotten the chance to finally express his gratitude to her.

Intervallo V: Nocturnal Sweeping

Saude made a brief appearance alongside Pilot at the beginning of the Intervallo, where it was apparent that she was promoted to LCCB Manager following her partner's death. She explains that she did die, but was able to be revived since her brain was intact, and that some of her coworkers were gossiping that she purposefully let Effie die to get a promotion. She gave a quick briefing to the Sinners regarding their guide in the H Corp. Backstreets (in the stead of Pilot's disastrous brief). After finishing the briefing, warning Pilot that he will be disciplined for his unpreparedness, she and Pilot left with Vergilius and Charon on Mephistopheles, on their way to another mission where Vergilius would have to assist in order to compensate for his breach of contract at Wuthering Heights.[1]

After the major events of the Intervallo, and after the banquet Jia Xichun held to celebrate her alliance with the Sinners, Saude appeared again to oversee Pilot's apology for his failure with Qingtao, as well apologizing herself for not managing Pilot more closely. She then delivered orders from the LCA that the LCB is to present Hong Lu as their chosen candidate in the Family Hierarch Evaluations -- which Xichun viewed as a betrayal.[2]

Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing

At the start of the Canto, Saude and Pilot accompanied the Sinners and Jia Xichun's faction as they awaited the palanquins that would take them to Daguanyuan for the Family Hierarch Evaluations of H Corp. Saude informed the Sinners that, due to H Corp.'s restrictions, the LCCB, Vergilius, and Charon would not be coming with them. When she tried to banter with Xichun, Xichun called her out for Limbus Company's "shameless backstabbing." After Xichun's faction left and the Sinners fought off the strangers attacking them, Saude briefly ranted about the cutthroat nature of the families participating in the hierarch war. She later explained about the restructuring process in H Corp. based on the Wing's use of space to measure wealth. When the palanquin for Hong Lu's faction—the other Sinners, his "twelve honored guests"—arrived, Saude talked the palanquin bearer into letting her board by claiming that Dante is an unrelated person whom Hong Lu was taking along for charity... and then by bribing him.

Aboard the palanquin, Saude shifted into her role as a strategist and detailed the plan for the Sinners to pass the first round of the Family Hierarch evaluations: by killing Hong Lu in front of the judges and then having Dante revive him. She also explained that Hong Lu did not need to win the Family Hierarch war, just place high enough to gain access to the family treasury and take the Golden Bough inside. She left once the palanquin arrived at the gates of Daguanyuan.

After the Sinners passed the first round and returned to Hong Lu's home, his maid Xiren handed them a letter from Saude. This letter had her instructions for the second round (which she wrote before they even passed the first round), but they were simply to "battle on" as the Sinners normally do, since the second round was a combat gauntlet, and to rely on their "intuition and fearlessness." Anticipating that other factions would intercept her letter, Saude ended it with a run-on sentence cursing unauthorized readers to suffer generations of misfortune.

Saude reappeared at the end of the Canto to inform the LCB that Vergilius had left to accompany the LCCB on business elsewhere, and that the LCB was now tasked with training Jia Xichun into becoming an effective Family Hierarch.

Intervallo VI: Spring Cultivation

After Sinclair's intervention during the vote of no confidence, the Sinners reported the event and its fallout to Saude, who appeared slightly vexed but ultimately accepting of what happened, musing on the contrast between her attitude now and her attitude at J Corp. Together with Zilu, Saude prepared lesson plans for each Sinner to help Jia Xichun improve her abilities, including Don Quixote's lesson on adventure tales, which Saude noted doubled as history lessons. She was also the one to inform Xichun that the Jia Yuanchun had given her a new master, the Night Drifter. She warned her that rejecting him would have harsh consequences, and warned him not to try anything suspicious. After Day 25 of Xichun's training, Saude commented on Xichun's improvements and newfound resolution, calling it "good progress."
