Line 5: Merry Go Round is the fifth line of Refraction Railway introduced in Season 5: Oblivion. It is unlocked by completing Canto VII.

Line 5 is composed of 11 total Stations, divided into 3 Sections. Every Station offer difficult Encounters based on enemies encountered in Canto VII or Intervallo V - 1, Peccatula Invidiae of various Identities, 2 Abnormalities previously encountered in the Canto VII Dungeon, and 3 new Abnormalities that had E.G.O released as Seasonal E.G.O during Season 5.
Similarly to Line 4, the Stations in each Section are treated as multiple waves of a single Encounter.

Like Line 4, Line 5 also uses the Chain Battle mechanic, with all Sinners being required to be Deployed before the start of the battle, with the last 6 Sinners reserved as Backup. Sinners do not gain buffs based on Deployment Order, though Backup Sinners have extra initial SP when brought onfield. Identities also give additional E.G.O resources upon death according to their Sin Affinities: Identity death give 1 Skill 1-Affinity resource, 2 Skill 2-Affinity resource, and 3 Skill 3-Affinity resource.

No Rest Stops are present in this Refraction Railway line. Instead, the team loadout can be changed after the completion of each Section, with Identities' HP fully healed and SP reset to 0 in the process. The Identities Deployed for Section 1 cannot be Deployed for Section 2, though Section 3 has no restriction on Identities Deployed.

After the completion of each Station, a choice of 'Buffs & Trials' will appear, prompting the Manager to choose a Buff to the Sinners and accompanying Buff to the enemies. These Buffs and Trials persists for the entirety of the Refraction Railway run. Each Section (save for the last Station) has its own pool of Buffs & Trials; the last Station has a pool independent from the rest of the Section.

One Buff and accompanying Trial may be chosen after each Station has been cleared in Line 5. Each Section has its own pool of Buffs & Trials, and the last Station in each Section has its own, unique set of Buffs & Trials.
Each Buff & Trial may only be chosen once throughout each Line 5 run, and applies for the rest of the entire run when chosen.
