The Kong family was a faction that led the bioengineering research in Hongyuan before the consolidation of the Jia family's power, until the destruction of the family and their headquarters at the hand of an Arbiter. It features prominently in Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing.
Overview
The Kong family was at the head of the H Corp. that came before the current one, having been active until around two decades before the events of Canto VIII.[1] Much like the current H Corp., the Kong family's work focused on the creation of Boluses, being able to output Boluses of extremely high quality and great variety. This led to the family gained notoriety not only within Hongyuan, but all throughout the City.
At the height of their power, the Kong family overshadowed the other families of Daguanyuan. The Family Hierarch Jia Mu was supported by the Kong family during the Family Hierarch Evaluations, with their help proving instrumental to her ascent. The Kong family would in turn be supported by Jia Mu in their Bolus forging work.
Their glory was cut short by betrayal at the hands of Jia Mu. Jia Mu had worked with the researchers at the Kong family's facilities to create a Bolus that would supposedly create a thirteenth branch of the Heishou Pack, of which she gifted a first prototype to Kong Sihui. The Bolus, and its recipe, were revealed in a presentation that the entire Kong family, save for one, had come to witness. When the Bolus was ingested, it instead birthed inhuman creatures that began to slaughter the spectators of the presentation en masse. The creation of non-humans invoked the ire of the Head, which sent their Claws and an Arbiter to purge the non-humans along with anyone who knew of the recipe. Kong Qiu was not present at the Kong family building, and as such was the sole survivor of the Kong family.
The Jia family took power shortly after this event and blamed the Kong family entirely for the creation of the non-humans, leaving behind a shameful legacy of greed.

- On the day of their destruction, Jia Mu would threaten that the Kong Family would soon end up within Avīci Naraka, the deepest Hell found in Buddhist religion.

As Hong Lu and Lin Daiyu are close in age, the fall of the Kong family must take place around twenty years before the events of the Canto.
