Jia Yuanchun is a member of the Jia Family who married and moved to Q Corp., but has returned home to Hongyuan to act as a judge in the Family Hierarch Evaluations. She is a supporting character introduced in Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing, and is an antagonist during Intervallo VI: Spring Cultivation.
Appearance
Jia Yuanchun wears a massive, ornate, gilded crown with two sets of red tassels on each side. Her black hair is partially tied upwards, while two low pigtails tied in gold bands fall down upon her chest, and two strands of hair fall around her eyes. She also has pink eyes with sharp lashes. She wears an ornate red robe with golden, flower-like accents, with a set of wide sleeves and hemline.
Personality
Jia Yuanchun is well-spoken and cautious, revelling in the status she has achieved in life. She is quick to worry about the past repeating itself, going as far as being ready to have Hong Lu killed to avoid history repeating. She has little issue with bringing harm to her siblings, as mentioned by Jia Xichun in her possible willingness to send assassins after them. She has a deceptive side, looking to topple the status of Hongyuan while it is at its weakest.
Story
Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing
Jia Yuanchun returned to H Corp. to assist Jia Mu and Jia Zheng in judging the candidates competing in the Family Hierarch Evaluations. She evaluated many candidates in the first round, with most failing to present a worthy idea of immortality. When it was Hong Lu's turn to present immortality to them, the two exchanged a brief greeting, and she remarked on how strange it was to see him participating in the evaluations. Hong Lu then demonstrated his version of immortality to the judges and allowed himself to be killed by Ryōshū, which shocked all three of them. Yuanchun became distressed, not at the death of her brother, but in fear that he was attempting a resurrection that would be considered Taboo under the Head. She was moments away from ordering the Heishou Packs under her control to kill Dante and Ryōshū, hoping to prevent the Claw from destroying H Corp. once more, but Jia Mu stopped her and allowed the presentation to be completed. After Dante turned back the clock and Hong Lu was brought back without it seeming to break any Taboos, Jia Mu declared that he had passed, and the first round soon ended.
Briefly, Jia Yuanchun announced the winning results of the Family Hierarch Evaluations during a feast held to honor Jia Xichun. Her time here is brief as she quickly fled to make use of the power vacuum; as Xichun's position as Hierarch had technically yet to be officiated, she had planned alongside the Xue and Wang Families to organize a coup with the seat of Hierarch open. Her plans would, however, fail following Hong Lu's defeat of Jia Mu at Tiekan Temple and Xichun's proper ascent to the throne.
Her insubordination having fallen through, she had Xue Baochai, a dissenting voice of the plan, captured and taken to her. Yuanchun made it known that while the Xue family was unaware of her status as an informant to Hong Lu, she could very easily shield her from the fallout and ensure that her betrayal would never be discovered; all Yuanchun asked in return was her assistance.
Intervallo VI: Spring Cultivation
With Jia Xichun's newfound position as the Family Hierarch, Jia Yuanchun deemed her unworthy of such a position and decided to start a vote of no confidence in order to slowly revoke the Hierarch of all privileges. Using her status, lies, and omission of information, she further convinced the audience to support the vote of no confidence before Sinclair and Zigong's intervention, leaving little to no room for the nervous Jia Xichun to defend herself.
During Jia Xichun's 30-day training, she sent the Night Drifter to assassinate her under the guise of being a new teacher for her. As Jia Xichun remained alive, she and Xue Baochai tricked her into riding the wrong palanquin before another of her trials, and sent the Heishou Pack - Si Branch to assassinate her once she arrived at the site; this would ultimately fail thanks to Wei's rampage, the Night Drifter's intervention and the Sinners' help.
After all her plans to eliminate Jia Xichun were foiled, and Xichun's status as the Hierarch was secured, she was shown conversing with Xue Baochai, preparing to go to Q Corp.
