Attack Weight
Limbus Company has a multi-target mechanic governed by Attack Weight (Atk Weight) and Slot Weight. Skills and E.G.O with high Attack Weight can hit multiple enemies at once, while enemies with high slot weight absorb multiple Attack Weight per Skill slot, reducing the power of Attack Weight.
Gameplay
Attack Weight is a value that all Skills have. It can be seen written as "Atk Weight" in yellow below the name of the Skill. Most Skills have an Attack Weight of 1, represented as one yellow box. Those with higher Atk Weight will have additional yellow boxes representing the number. Atk Weight can also be increased by meeting specific Skill Conditionals. It is common for E.G.O, especially E.G.O of higher rarity, to have increased Atk Weight or Skill conditionals that increase Atk Weight.
Slot Weight is a value that all Skill Slots have. Most Skill Slots have a Slot Weight of 1, meaning when targeted by a Skill, the slot absorbs 1 Attack Weight. Some enemies, primarily bosses, have higher Slot Weight. This enables individual skill slots to absorb more Atk Weight, preventing a skill with high Atk Weight from hitting other parts or enemies. An Attack Skill can only deal damage once per body part, regardless of the quantity of Atk Weight absorbed.
Generally speaking, Skills usually have either high roll values or high Atk Weight for balance purposes, and often require specific conditionals to be met to gain Atk Weight. For E.G.O Skills, increased Atk Weight also often increases the sanity or E.G.O Resource cost.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Attack Weight is a game mechanic that allows for multiple enemies to be hit, and affected by, one attack. This is often very powerful, but it is highly situational. Slot Weight exists to offset some of the benefits of Attack Weight, balancing some fights.
Attack Weight is extremely powerful against large numbers of low HP enemies with low Slot Weight, such as most chain battles. In these fights, the damage output of a skill can be multiplied by its Attack Weight, dealing vastly higher damage. Many Skill or Coin effects trigger [On Hit], meaning they will trigger repeatedly when hitting multiple enemies.
Attack Weight is useless against single enemies with few body parts, or enemies with very high Slot Weight. As each body part can only be hit once, high Attack Weight provides no benefit against a single boss with one part, or against a boss with multiple parts but very high Slot Weight. In these cases, Skills will deal the same amount of damage regardless of their Atk Weight.
Attack Weight Manipulation
Despite skills with high Attack Weight seeming to target randomly, the targets of a high Atk Weight Skill can be manipulated. Atk Weight will always target untargeted skill slots first , meaning they will target enemies or parts currently not targeted by other allies. This fact allows attack weight to be manipulated to target specific enemies.
Because Atk Weight prioritizes untargeted skill slots, to manipulate attack weight, you simply need to fill in all skill slots you do not want targeted with attacks by other allies. Then, you target with the high Atk Weight Skill. Finally, you can remove the "dummy targeting," as the high Atk Weight skill will not readjust its targets.
The same manipulation strategy can be used in chain battles, to a lesser extent. By controlling which skill slot of an identity uses an E.G.O with high Atk Weight, you can change which targets get hit.

Trivia
- Skills with 2+ Attack Weight originally used "[AoE] Targets X slots" as their descriptions, rather than the current Attack Weight display.
